ITINERARY OUTLINE –Full Day Trip at weekend

10:00    Arrive in Dalkey

Start your day with a visit to Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre.  Be horrified at the welcome to Dalkey Castle underneath the Murder Hole! Don’t be frightened at the Ghost – it is a friendly Ghost! The Barber-Surgeon will pull your teeth and will test your urine (entirely optional). Meet the Archer and test your strength on the Longbow.  Would you like hedgehog pie for dinner?  The Archer loves it as a special treat! Examine the Tudor toilet facilities! See the Tudor equivalent of toilet roll and be disgusted! And you can learn how to make money & mint your own coins!

11:30    Face Painting, Arts, crafts with Tiggy

13:00    Stop for lunch in any one of Dalkey’s restaurants such as Ouzo’s which cater for families with children’s menus.

14:30    Take a walk out to Coliemore Harbor with magnificent views to Dalkey Island. You may be lucky enough to see Dalkey’s dolphins or some seals. Then pop up to Dillon’s Park with its stunning views or take a dip at White Rock.

Head towards Killiney Hill where the native red squirrel has been re-introduced to its natural habitat. The young and the young at heart can enjoy the play area with swings and slides galore.

Stroll along the nature trails to the top of the hill where you will find the Obelisk and see ‘The Witch’s Hat’.

You may also see rock climbers in the Quarry and Paragliders if the weather is good enough. If you brought your picnic, tables are sited near the car park. (Pick up your picnic in Country Bake, the friendly family run local bakery which has been in business for 25 years ).

Stay in Dalkey for an evening meal – great international and Irish cuisine in owner run establishments. Prices to suit all tasted and pockets.

11:30    Take a stroll down to Coliemore harbour where you will see beautiful views over to the island and can do a spot of Dolphin / Seal watching from the shore.

13:00    Stop for lunch in any one of Dalkey’s famous eateries
