She was born in Hunan province in China. Mia came to live with her Irish family in March of 2002. She lives with dad Clem, my mom Sally, her sister Meghan, her two brothers Jordan and Brett and her dog Harry. Mia is currently in 5th class at school.
When Mia was tiny in China, She had an accident where she was very badly burned. She needed a lot of treatment and operations so She has been going to Crumlin Children’s Hospital ever since she arrived in Ireland.
Thanks to Crumlin, and all the great doctors and nurses, She is now so much better and she is still getting treatment for her leg and foot. Next April it will be 10 years since she started to go to Crumlin.
Mia loves to draw, but she really really loves to draw and sketch fashion designs. One day she gave some of her designs to her friend Bernie and she loved them so much that she felt they should be seen by one of the best designers in the world; John Rocha. After he saw her drawings he invited Mia to come and meet him -she couldn’t believe it. It was a great experience and he gave Mia great encouragement and inspiration.
She has now decided to use her drawings to do something positive, so Mia is planning a big fashion show event on Friday May 25th at Convention Centre Dublin starting 7.30pm to support Crumlin Children’s Hospital and to fund a new childrens burns victim unit to say…
THANK YOU CRUMLIN- LOVE MIA

Dalkey is a beautiful little village by the sea just out side of Dublin. Many
famous people like Bono, Anne Lenox, Jim Sheridan and Neil Jordan live in
Dalkey because of its picturesque views, friendly people and quaint village. Its
also where Dallan and Andrew both grew up, and families are still there. I am
always in Dalkey bringing Dylan to see his grandad and we always seem to find
out selves having coffee or lunch in Idle Wild Cafe.
Situated in the heart of
Dalkey, this little cafe is a great mix of home baking and good old fashioned
food. It has a beautiful little court yard out side where you can sit on a nice
day and as its enclosed its perfect for your little toddler to explore. Amelie
and Dylan are both very adventurous and even though Amelie has been walking for
months and Dylan is still cruising the furniture, they both want to be out of
the high chair and looking around. So having an enclosed court yard where there
is little they can do to hurt them selves is re assuring, and it allows us to
actually enjoy a hot coffee while keeping an eye on the little ones with out
having to walk around with them.
There is a kids menu which has all the usual
yummy meals kids enjoy. No green beans in sight.
It has a lovely atmosphere
and the staff are all very accommodating to moving around the tables to make way
for the buggies bags and high chairs.
Its not a very big cafe and it can get
very busy at lunch time so best to avoid the lunch time rush and go at 12 or
just after 2pm.
It has 2 high chairs and the only down side is there isn't a
changing room.

Ever more we are veering towards the casual relaxed value dining ethos with good Tapas, Italian, and Gastropubs all flying. We have always wanted to dine like our Continental neighbours on a regular basis on reasonably priced simple food and now, with an abundance of casual eateries, particularly in Dublin, it seems many are doing so.
Gastropubs are judged now by diners as severely as restaurants – they are not any much cheaper than bistros or brasseries so the grub has to be wholesome and cooked with a certain flair, unlike the old pub grub world of meat and two veg. However, there is a place for that too – unlike some I don’t turn my nose up at the carvery – many people love it and use it as a daily staple. However, the subject of my attention is a new Gastropub in the upmarket celebrity village of Dalkey, Co. Dublin, home to Bono and Pat Kenny et al and they all like to eat out too!
The Magpie Inn has been taken over recently by Rachel Clancy, originally from Kilkenny, who has been involved in the Dublin restaurant scene for some fifteen years or so and knows what she is about. We really liked the atmosphere created in the Magpie and there were an awful lot of local faces tucking in there. - Lucinda O'Sullivan
A cheque for €80,000 will be presented today to the Jack and Jill Children's foundation. This money was raised through the efforts of participating IPPA members including Photogenic who gave their valuable time to this worthy cause.
€80,000 equates to a donation of 5000 hours of home nursing care and respite to children from birth to 4 years old with severe developmental delay as a result of brain damage, who are based in every community in Ireland. Well done to everyone involved!
