The store began retailing in 1959 with Paddy McCabe his wife Margaret. Paddy died in 1980 sadly, leaving Margaret to run the store with her five children. Margaret’s eldest daughter Hilary and sons Leo and Brian helped their mother through the 80’s and 90’s which were tough years. In 2000 Margaret retired and her youngest Oliver returned from Australia in September 2004 Oliver McCabe transformed Select Stores from a greengrocer into a natural health food store. He did this with his family whilst still keeping the shop open to customers. It took two weeks and lots of hard work and praying from Mrs McCabe.
